LJWG shortlisted for C+D awards for innovative hepatitis C pharmacy testing pilot

We are thrilled to announce that the London Joint Working Group on Substance Use and Hepatitis C has been shortlisted for ‘Health Initiative of the Year’ at the Chemist + Druggist 2019 awards, for our partnership hepatitis C pharmacy testing pilot.

Working closely with 8 pharmacies across London, our hepatitis C pharmacy testing project offered point-of-care tests to people who use needle exchange services, engaging with and meeting the unmet needs of this vulnerable and high-risk group. The project developed a working model of testing and referral into treatment that is now being rolled out in Birmingham and Manchester.

You can read more about phase 1 of the pilot project here (results of phase 2 will be published later in 2019).

The winners will be announced on June 6th .

The LJWG would like to thank all of the pharmacies and pharmacists, commissioners, hospitals, peer support workers and others involved who helped to make the project such a success. The LJWG would also like to thank MSD for funding the pilot project.
